Learn to split the task at hand into small consistent workable units.

Life is journeys on tourist visit for many - without an AIM & PURPOSE
For some it is a journey to destination.- with an aim & purpose.
Whatever it is, you (I), want life as comfortable as possible.

You will not have, a peaceful and comfortable, journey (life) if you quarrel with your CO-passengers (people with whom you have to live). Happy life is nothing but live and let live.

KU All you need Is, an AIM, PURPOSE, and a plan before starting a work, to lead a contended, peaceful and prosperous life.

For me, life appears to be a journey on a tourist visit. We vaguely, know what we are going to achieve - yet want a comfortable journey, memorable experiences. ( we do not mind, even some horrible experiences, like facing wild animals and escaping death - as long as we have, some one to hear us and admire us). We want (more the merrier), some one to, share our thoughts and experiences. We meet lots of people on our journey, share our joys and sorrows with them share our food, belongings, thoughts and experiences, accommodate them at the cost of our inconvenience, if we like them. After the end of the journey some of them we remember some we forget. Some of them we meet, Intentionally or accidentally after some time, a few of them may become our friends and associates for life. When we come across, one another, we recollect the time we have spent together, enjoyable or otherwise, share thoughts, may have some plans for the present and future.

ÿA Life is, after all, made up of many such journeys.

Compare your life experiences with above, all you find is a longer duration of association with people in life nothing more. All that is important is - the AIM you had, the extent of achievement, and the time you have spent in your life journey, is purposeful or not.   

 I have taken journey as a comparison because like life, journey is time dependent and time bound. And it cannot be understood without time element.

We will be happy if we can achieve things in time, and not so happy even if we achieve it afterwards.

Let me explain the importance of time and purpose element by a crude example.

Happiness of Yours, your families, friends' and others associated, with any event, depends on the following.

Expected results of the event, time with in which the event should be completed.

Occurrence of the event (the results are achieved with in time or after wards).
The purposes of the event - Time and purpose are the predominant elements.

An Example:

Let us consider the event to be your passing graduation exams and you are expected to pass in second division.

Analyze the following situations and the feelings (happiness or other wise) of every one associated with you and the event.

You have passed an in:
First class,
In second class,
passed in third class,
failed,
failed but passed in subsequent attempts ( i.e. beyond the time limit set for the original event).

You can easily understand that the reaction (very happy, happy, all right, unhappy) depends on expectations and time limit, purpose, and not purely on the event itself (exams are conducted regularly, you see)

Now, that we know the cause and effect we can manage happiness scientifically. - Define your expectations, time with in which you have to achieve and the purpose.

Happiness comes out of the purpose for which you live. Remember that Happiness is the outcome of Sharing, Caring and recognition..

 From early childhood I am very inquisitive about things around me. I never left this childish inquisitiveness through out my life. All I have learned is to organize my thoughts and data I have collected. I have become a scientist - wise man!!!. You too can become one.

Now let us make some assumptions and try to verify the validity of assumptions, and try to understand who are YOU or I, and what is that you, (I), want??? !!!.

Are you your physical body - many times we think so - but this assumption does not stand the test of verification. At time you feel happy, when body is put to, extreme discomfort - see an athlete how he feels, when he comes first, even if he breaks his leg in the end.

No you are not your physical body.

Are you your brain - You can find many examples for your self where the conditions, comfortable to your brain, are not acceptable to you - see how a drunkard, Who drinks to forget his sorrows weeps, when he is drunk.

No you are not your brain.

 Are You ,your consciousness - if so, you will not do any thing against, the wishes of your consciousness. You do many things against your consciousness and feel sorry for it.

No you are not your consciousness.

Physical body, brain, consciousness are all time and event dependent and none of them are capable of explaining "YOU or I".

Figure out facts and fiction your self.  You are the best judge.

"YOU or I" are like, perennial life giving, rivers and independent of time and event. As water takes the shape of the vessel, we take the shape of the body, which we occupy. As the volume of water, is limited to the volume of the vessel, our life is limited to (the boundaries of time) the existence of body. As the utility of the water, is dependent on the purity (time dependent) and purpose at hand, so do our life should have a purpose. As the water in a gutter becomes useless so do a life (YOU or I) become useless with out a purpose. Leave something behind for society to remember you.

 We remember only those people who lived with a purpose (be it, good or bad) - for ever. Jesus Christ, and the Roman king who crucified him. Rama and Ravana etc.

K The physical body - YOU or (I) - is time dependent and purpose oriented. The real YOU or (I), the controlling force of body, mind & consciousness, as the flow of perennial rivers is independent of time and events.

The events (like rains) are time dependent and they keep taking place all the time. YOU are I, decide the out comes of the event and our decision is final. Deriving happiness or bitter feelings purely depends on YOU.  

As an example let us see how to religions look at them:

Let us try to understand the above argument in the light of "GIST of GEETA". Do thy duty (you may plan the events, but you may or may not, have control over events), do your best as per your judgment at time of occurrence of the event and leave the result to me"

Even if you have performed your duties well (you may or may not have control over results). Your decision of the out come of the event should be positive and do not feel bad about it, what ever may be the out come, you have performed your duty to best of your ability.

Hindu thought (east):

Have a purpose for your action, perform it to best of your ability. Have a positive outlook about the outcome and don't allow the results bother you.

Christian thought (west):

Confessions by, Christians, also aims at the same result, though it does not put the burden of best performance on the individual.

There in lies the difference between eastern and western thinking, efforts to make people understand what is expected out of them and Carryon with life.
